With summer vacation just around the corner, students need to be engaged in their learning to help retain what they’ve learned throughout the school year. Yet, it’s summer vacation, and they deserve to have some fun after all the hard work they’ve done. Here, we’ve compiled a list of fun Utah activities that are sure to keep your kids entertained this summer!

Summer Activities for Elementary School Students

The Hogle Zoo is a Utah treasure and has a lot of fun activities for kids! Hogle Zoo has something for everyone. They offer a one-of-a-kind experience that allows you to interact with different animals and even offer zoo camps for elementary-aged kids!

Thanksgiving Point Summer Days Camp

Thanksgiving Point Summer Days Camp is a great way for your kids to learn while having fun! This year, children will be discovering dinosaurs, creating unique art, and “see the future” with fun experiences through STEM. Space fills up quickly, so you’ll want to register your children as soon as possible!

Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum

The Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum has a variety of different exhibits that encourage creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and design! They even offer summer camps to keep your children engaged all summer long!

Wheeler Historic Farm

Wheeler Historic Farm offers a summer camp for younger kids. They do fun agricultural activities, such as milking goats, collecting eggs, horseback riding, and more! This is a great way for them to learn more about farms and farm animals!

Harmon’s Cooking Classes

Harmon’s grocery stores offer cooking classes throughout the summer. One of the best ways to teach teens about eating healthy and the real-life application of math is by teaching them how to cook! This is a great opportunity for them to learn a new skill.

The Leonardo

The Leonardo is an exciting museum that combines science, technology, and art. They have several hands-on experiences, traveling exhibits, pasta-making courses, and so much more! We suggest getting a membership pass for discounts and members-only events!

Red Butte Gardens

Red Butte Gardens is a botanical garden and arboretum that shows the beautiful nature Utah has to offer. They have different events throughout the summer and even offer summer camps for kids and teens! This is a great way for your teen to learn about nature while being in nature!

Summer Activities for High School Students


Wildflower Festival

Every summer the wildflowers come into bloom, and it is quite the sight! This is a great way to see Utah’s natural beauty. To get to this event, you’ll need to take a small hike up Cecret Lake. If you need help with accessibility, the ski lifts will be running. The best part about this event is that it is completely free!

Explore Timpanogos Cave

If you want to give your teens a visual treat, consider taking them up to Timpanogos Cave. They’ll get to see the stunning vistas that have formed as well as learn the science behind them. This is a great activity because they get to discover rock formations as they go along.

2D Video Gaming Camp

The 2D Gaming Camp is a STEM-oriented program organized and run by Weber State University. This is a great way for your teen to learn about two-dimensional video games while in a university setting. Seating is limited to 25 participants, so you’ll want to sign them up as soon as possible!

5K Marathons

One of the biggest myths about 5k marathons is that you have to be good at running to be able to participate in them. These are great ways to teach students the importance of exercise. There are so many 5K runs that happen throughout the summer. Have your teen pick one that interests them and have them go for it!
