BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Providence Hall Board of Trustees is actively seeking new Board Members. Recruiting highly engaged board members with specific skill-sets and professional backgrounds is vital to the success of Providence Hall. With the expansion of the charter school, the Board also believes it is important to expand the Providence Hall Board of Trustees. The Board is interested in individuals who may bring experience in the following skill sets.

  • Financial – both accounting and bigger picture financial management skills
  • Real estate – facility identification, negotiation, financing and property management
  • Fundraising – especially cultivating individual donors, building a donor base
  • Public relations/marketing – especially as it relates to fundraising and community building
  • Human resources – personnel policies, salaries, benefits
  • Legal expertise – general law as opposed to educational law
  • Education – especially accountability systems, and big-picture administration of educational institutions, teaching experience, administration in education.
  • Previous governance experience (non profit or corporate)

Potential board members must be effective in communicating the school’s mission and vision; planning for the future; setting sound policy; modeling professionalism; overseeing finances, program evaluation, building sustainable relationships with the community; amongst other key operational aspects.

BOARD MEETINGS

The public is welcome to attend any Board of Trustees open meetings.
Those desiring to make public comments must email providencehallboard@gmail.com by one hour prior to the start time on the day of the meeting. Emails received outside this time will not be read. The email should include the name and the general location where the individual lives. Emails will be read in the order received. Emails will be read up to three minutes in length. In those situations where large groups of people desire to address the Board on the same subject, the Board requests that the group selects only one or two individuals to email the Board on behalf of the group and the email representing the group shall be allocated up to six minutes to be read. No more than 45 minutes will be allocated to public comments in a Board meeting. The public should be aware that the Board is unable, by law, to deliberate or take action on items raised during the public comment period. The Board will not take public comment on personnel issues or statements regarding the character, professional competence, and the physical or mental health of an individual during Board meetings.
